This distinction is the highest level of accreditation that a school system can receive from the SACS CASI organization. Through the traditional method of accrediting schools, individual schools are reviewed for accreditation eligibility, with the district's central office staff playing a limited but important role. Because of Ben Hill County's long-standing reputation for providing a high-quality education to every Ben Hill County Public School student, the district began actively seeking District Accreditation as a Quality System. According to the SACS CASI organization, the development of the district accreditation protocol is in response to requests from superintendents and other district leaders throughout the nation who wanted to better coordinate accreditation with ongoing system improvement initiatives, state and district mandates.
With the district accreditation protocol, a full examination of Ben Hill County's program initiatives to improve student learning, as well as a review of its K-12 schools and high-quality academic programs, will further validate that all District components are actively working together to ensure that every student receives a high-quality education. District Accreditation as a Quality System will validate Ben Hill County's outstanding accomplishments as well as recognize the efforts of every Ben Hill County School District employee.
